Twenty-seven school throughout the province are in line for government funding to make them more energy efficient.
Among to get funding include the Central coasts Hagensborg Elementary, Prince Rupert’s Conrad Elementary and the Bulkley Valley’s Twain Sullivan Elementary. All of the schools will use the money for new boilers.
Prince Rupert District 52’s Cam McIntyre says this funding helps to upgrade the school.
McIntyre says the savings can then be put back into the classrooms.
School districts had to apply for the funding by submitting project proposals to the ministry with projects selected based on specific needs of each district, how well they could save money and district and energy service providers contributions.
