The Northern Secwepemc te Qelmucw, which comprises of four First Nation bands will vote on an Agreement-in-Principle next February.
The negotiations with the BC Treaty process have been ongoing since 1993.
The NStQ are now at the end of Stage 4 of the process, which then leads to final agreement negotiations.
On February 11, 2016, the NStQ will hold a referendum asking if their membership supports the leadership to proceed to final agreement negotiations.
The bands involved include Canim Lake (Tsq’escen’), Canoe Creek/Dog Creek (Stswecem’c/Xgat’tem), Soda Creek (Xats’ull/Cmetem’), and Williams Lake (T’exelc).
Various information meetings will be held to inform band members about the AiP, members can also contact each band’s treaty team for more information.
