Northern Shuswap Tribal Council to hold BC Treaty Process vote

Four northern Shuswap First Nations will be voting on whether or not to advance to the second to last stage of the BC Treaty Process.

The Northern Shuswap Tribal Council, which represents the Canim Lake Indian Band, Williams Lake Indian Band, Soda Creek Indian Band, and Canoe Creek/Dog Creek Indian bands, will be holding a vote tomorrow to decide whether to take the treaty process to Stage 5.

In a release, the NSTC says if the communities agree to proceed to final negotiations, another vote will be held once those are complete.

Five polling stations will be open in four communities from 9am to 8pm.

The NSTC has been in the treaty process since 1994.
