Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone made a number of major infrastructure announcements this week in the northwest.
But the Northwest British Columbia Resource Benefits Alliance is still seeking an agreement with the province for infrastructure funding.
The alliance is made up of a number of northwest municipalities that want the province to hand over a share of provincial revenues from major resource projects.
Chair of the resource benefits alliance Stacey Tyers says revenue sharing will help local communities with their infrastructure needs.
Areas like the Northeast have agreements with the province and Tyers believe it’s time for the northwest to get its share.
Minister Stone believes an agreement would help plan and fund projects local towns and cities want to complete.
Tyers is hoping the alliance can meet with the Minister of Community Peter Fassbender later this fall to try and move forward to getting an agreement.
