Members of the BC Nurses Union gathered in Smithers to voice their concerns on a number of issues.
Christine Sorensen is the vice president of BCNU and say issues include the lack of retention for nurses in the north and violence they have to deal with.
She says more money to assist with housing and training will help keep nurses in the north.
Sorensen also wants to add more security staff at hospitals to better protect nurses. She also wants to the government to introduce legislation.
Sorensen says BCNU will continue to rally across the province and bring up the issues with health authorities and government officials.
She says union members will ensure that all of the candidates running in the May election know the concerns they want to see addressed in the next sitting of the legislature.
