The Northwest Community College will no longer be offering the welding program at its Prince Rupert campus.
Heather Bastin of the the college says the welding program won’t be offered this fall, but that doesn’t mean it won’t return to Prince Rupert.
She says the discontinuation of the program in Prince Rupert was made in conjunction with industry advice.
NWCC will soon be releasing a three-year academic course plan that will outline what courses will be offered and where.
The plan will rotate trades courses between various campuses.
But Bastin says there’s still room for flexibility based on course demand.
In place of the welding program; plumbing foundations, electrical level three, and intro to trades will be available at the Prince Rupert campus.
