Northwest Community College is facing a budget crunch.
Like many other regional schools, finances have become a major issue, leading to potential layoffs and cuts in programming.
Ken Burt is the president and CEO of NWCC, he also come from a finance background.
He says one of the key issues is student enrolment.
The school is working on a program to encourage early-retirement for faculty, and that will affect potential layoffs.
But despite this, he says the economy of northern BC offers many opportunities.
More details will come out when NWCC releases its budget within the next few weeks.
