NWCC gets $250,000 from TransCanada for bursaries

TransCanada has donated $250,000 dollars to Northwest Community College.

Workforce Training and Continuing Studies, and Trades students can apply for the TransCanada Pathway to Pipeline Readiness Skills Fund Bursaries.

The funding also allows NWCC to create a driver training program to teach students how to drive, and buy a specialized car that features a second set of controls for the teacher.

Ken Burt is president of NWCC.

The first driver’s training courses will be offered in Moricetown this spring.

Bruce Wells is the Vice President of Project Development for the Coastal GasLink project.

He says it’s important to invest in the communities along the project’s path.

The Coastal GasLink project will transport natural gas to Kitimat through a 670km pipeline from the Dawson Creek region.
