Northwest Community College held a noon-time meeting with students to hear how they want the future of their school to look.
Heather Bastin of the college says renovations to the trades building is required, and the college wanted to get feedback from students on potential changes to the campus.
She says the college is looking at options to accommodate health science classes during the trades building renovations.
One option includes finding more efficient ways to utilize the library to save space, and moving health sciences courses into that building, or moving some services into the NWCC’s longhouse.
While the college has stated the longhouse is underutilized, any move to use the longhouse for anything other than its intended cultural purpose has been met with concerns.
But Bastin says if there’s opposition to such a move, the college will look at other options.
She adds, students have also told her that they want longer library hours, more study spaces, and more student gathering spaces.
