Northwest Community College is heading to the community to discuss its proposed new name… Coast Mountain College.
After two years of research and planning with staff, faculty, students, alumni and community members, the plan is aimed to identify short and long-term goals that will support the college.
Sarah Zimmerman is the communications officer for the school and she says the school wasn’t getting enough recognition thus sparking the re-branding.
Zimmerman says one of the main goals in this process is to increase recruitments nationally and internationally.
College representatives will be now heading on a three-week engagement process with key members of the college community throughout the region, this is being done to determine the level of support for the new proposed name change.
When that process is finished, letters of support will be forwarded to the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training along with a formal request to change the college’s name.
