A request by the City of Terrace to install surveillance cameras downtown has been shot down by the Office of Information and Privacy Commission.
After reports were sent to the Commission, it was determined that the city does not have the right to video surveillance on the streets after hours.
Multiple options were brought up on how to move forward with improving the security of the downtown area.
Debates saw councillors torn on whether or not to seek a legal study, investigate other options, or seek a professional opinion on the safety concerns of the area.
