Okanagan Valley hit hard by wildfires

Evacuation orders and alerts continue to filter in across the province’s central interior thanks to more than 100 wildfires burning province-wide.

The Okanagan Valley has taken the brunt of the blazes so far with nearly two dozen fires popping up over the last 24 hours thanks to lightning storms.

A state of emergency was declared for 596 properties in the Peacland area, and alerts remain in plaze for the Law Creek wildfire.

Meanwhile, the Dog Creek Trail fire northwest of Vanderhoof continues to lock properties in the area in to evacuation alerts as it now covers 3 square kilometres.
