Residents evacuated from the community of Old Fort can now return home after the province lifted the evacuation order this weekend.
Initially issued due to a slow moving landslide that had destroyed the only road leading in to town, the order had been in place since October 7th.
Now, crews have completed a temporary road over top of the destroyed road, allowing the 200 evacuated residents to return home.
The temporary one-lane road has a speed limit of 30 km/h and 15 km/h around bends.
The slide, which had continued to move until recently, had also knocked out power lines and destroyed one home in the community north of Fort St John.
