Old Fort residents just can’t seem to catch a break as they gathered outside the District office in Fort St John yesterday to demand answers.
This time, the questions surrounded the cut-off of the community’s natural gas supply just one day after it had been restored.
Power had originally been cut off as the result of a slow moving landslide which had destroyed the road in to the community and forced its evacuation.
Supplier Pacific Northern Gas says they made the decision to cut the supply due to safety risks around homeowners re-lighting their pilot lights.
According to the company, residents will need to apply for authorization to re-light their pilot lights.
A draft report assessing risks and hazards in the community is apparently nearing completion.
