Open house set for proposed Watson Island propane facility

The City of Prince Rupert and Pembina are holding an open house next month to talk about the current state of Watson Island and the company’s proposed liquefied propane gas export terminal.

Pembina and the city announced a non-binding letter of intent (LOI) in April to conduct a feasibility study and begin engineering and design work on a $125 million to $175 million liquefied petroleum gas terminal at the old Skeena Cellulose pulp mill site.

If constructed, the Pembina LPG facility would be the second propane export terminal near Prince Rupert, although the company says a final investment decision is still a ways off.

The open house is set for December 6th from 4 until 7 p.m. at the North Coast Meeting and Convention Centre.
