A 120,000 name petition opposing the Site C dam has been handed over to Vancouver-area politicians.
Groups including Amnesty International Canada and Leadnow worked together to gather the signatures and post cards demanding a halt to the hydroelectric megaproject on the Peace River near Fort St. John.
Organizers of the petition say the number of signatures proves there is widespread concern about the dam.
Leadnow spokeswoman Brittany Smith says Site C is part of the B.C. election campaign but it is also a federal matter because environmental and indigenous issues are at stake — so the petition is being delivered to federal MPs, urging them to take action.
