The Prince George Fire Centre recorded 18 wildfire starts over the weekend, including its first significant blaze of the season.
The Breadalbane Creek Fire, northeast of Vanderhoof, was spotted Saturday morning.
Fire Information Officer Amanda Reynolds says the fire is human-caused and over 240 hectares in size as of Tuesday morning.
Reynolds says the rest of the 17 fire starts in the PG Fire Centre’s area were sparked by lightning, including a cluster of ten fires west of Fort Nelson.
While the fire danger rating for southern areas of the fire centre’s operations is on the low to moderate side, in the northern sections it is considered high to extreme.
