The resurfacing of a well-known phone scam has RCMP in Terrace warning residents not to fall victim.
Police have received a spike in calls recently regarding a Canada Revenue Agency phone scam threatening arrest over an unpaid bill.
As a result, they are reminding everybody that neither the Government nor a true collection agency will ask for payment over the phone via a pre-paid card.
The CRA will also never ask for personal information over the phone.
If you receive one of these calls, police ask that instead of contacting them, you report the number to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by calling 1 888 495 8501.
