UNBC campuses in Terrace and Prince George are behind picket lines today as the university’s faculty association takes strike action.
Eleventh- hour talks between the union, which represents professors and instructors, and the university ended without an agreement last night.
UNBC Faculty Association President Jacqueline Holler says members want comparable wages to other Canadian universities.
Holler says the faculty association wants to get a deal as quickly as possible so that they can return to class.
UNBC is seeking a five-year agreement with wage increases of 1% and 1.5% in the final two years of the deal.
Services at UNBC in Quesnel, Fort St. John, and Vancouver are being disrupted, although they are not being picketed right now.
