The Prince George RCMP are investigating a serious crash south of the city.
A Freightliner utility truck struck a empty flat-deck tractor trailer on Highway 97 between Buckhorn Lake Road and the Willowcale Forest Service Road yesterday around 5:45pm.
Apparently, the tractor trailer was stopped on the highway as directed by construction flaggers.
The Freightliner caught on fire due to the collision, but fortunately the 41 year old Prince George driver was pulled out of the vehicle and taken to hospital where he was later released.
The accident shut down that section of Highway 97 for hours.
Investigators are looking at speed and alcohol as possible contributing factors, and the investigation is continuing.
