The Port of Prince Rupert has donated just over a half-million dollars to two projects in Lax Kw’alaams.
The $539,400 donation is through the port’s Community Investment Fund, and is touted as its largest contribution to date.
Part of that funding will go towards the Smart Community infrastructure project that will upgrade Lax Kw’alaams’ information technology systems.
The other part of the donation will go towards providing equipment for the Outdoor Leadership Adventure Program at the Coast Tsimshian Academy and recreation centre.
That program provides activities such as kayaking, biking, and camping for students and community members.
