Roughly half of the armed forces that had been deployed to assist in wildfire efforts in BC are headed home.
In July, the provincial government formally requested the assistance of the Federal Armed Forces in their efforts to combat the worst wildfire season in the province’s history.
As a result, nearly 200 troops, mostly reserve forces, were deployed to various communities across BC.
Now, with the state of emergency ended and most wildfires dying down, just 100 troops will remain in the province to assist with mop-up efforts.
