Some local businesses in Smithers are warning others about potential fraud.
Businesses in Quesnel, Prince George and now Smithers have been taken advantage of by a young male who could be using fake cards to make transactions.
The chip and scan don’t work on these cards so the individual is asking to have the transaction done manually.
The individual is described as a male in his 30’s, crew cut hairstyle, standing at 6 foot tall, he has a tattoo on the right side of his neck. He’s also wearing various clothing and telling various stories.
Store owners say he’s calm, polite and charming.
