BC Premier John Horgan is in Prince George today as he embarks on a tour of northern communities effected by wildfires.
Communication and health concerns were the key points when Horgan addressed media this morning.
According to the Premier, the province needs to make sure that all the proper communication channels exist and remain open so that information can be promptly relayed to firecrews and residents.
Horgan also addressed the need to have all branches of government come together to work on policy changes that will allow public health concerns relating to wildfire smoke and air quality to be better assessed.
The Premier later put those who are refusing to obey evacuation orders on notice, saying that they not only put themselves at risk, but also their entire communities as they undermine firecrews’ efforts to battle the blazes.
Horgan closed by discussing budgetary concerns, saying that, while any amount of money needed would be used, the government does need to better assess wildfire budgets.
