Prescribed burn to take place east of Prince George

Smoke may be visible 75 kms east of Prince George as the BC Wildfire Service and BC Timber Sales conduct a prescribed burn in the area.

The burn will take place over a 50 hectare area about 7 kms north of Fraser River just off the McGregor FSR.

Should conditions allow, the burns could begin as early as today, but only if weather is calm and wildfire risks are low.

The purpose of the burn is to prepare the site for tree planting and reduce dead and combustable materials in the area.
