The city of Prince George is changing their “Free Fare for Clean Air policy”.
Currently, free fare days occur after an air quality advisory, this is done to promote public transit and green transportation.
Seen as an opportunity to promote transit use, the old practice of offering “free fare for clean air” during an air quality advisory will be replaced. That practice was seen as problematic, in that it didn’t kick in until the day after the advisory was issued. Instead, the city will have a special “Clean Air Day” that would be promoted and people can plan to take transit.
In the new policy there will be free fares during the entire bike to work week, on general voting days, on national seniors day, and upon the request for any class in School district 57.
