Last week, Prince George RCMP were called to a theft.
On September 15th, RCMP received a report of a truck that was broken into in the parking lot of a local hotel.
Numerous items were stolen including a pellet gun, work tools, and clothes.
Just one hour later, RCMP received a report of a stolen truck in the same parking lot, the owner of the vehicle left a shotgun and a spare key in the truck.
Surveillance images show a lone male suspect break into both vehicles, transfer items from one vehicle to the other, and then drive away.
Later that day, RCMP located the stolen vehicle near 3rd Avenue and Johnson Street, the driver then fled on foot but was apprehended.
The vehicle and other stolen items were recovered however the shotgun was not retrieved.
A 38-year-old man from Prince George has been held in custody through the weekend and will appear in court later today. Several property related charges are expected.
Police would like to remind gun owners to never leave a firearm in a vehicle for any amount of time, as it can create a public safety concern.
