The Prince George RCMP say a troubled area in the city is now seeing improvements.
Mounties say the area of now closed Connaught Motor Inn near Highway 16 and 15th Avenue saw high numbers of calls for service.
Police say a partnership with the city eventually had the motel shut down and that triggered a decrease in calls for service.
Prince George RCMP Superintendent Warren Brown says crimes have dropped 67%.
Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall is pleased that plan put in place by both the city and police is working out.
The RCMP say tackling the troubled areas will help police focus on other areas and free up resources.
They also say this was a key area to address as it’s one of the main routes to access downtown.
