The Prince Rupert Port Authority has released this year’s cruise ship schedule.
While the number of ships and passengers are down slightly, it’s within the same range as the last few seasons, according to Kris Schumacher, Marketing and Communications Officer with the port.
He says the Alaskan cruise market has contracted in the last few years so growth has been limited.
But Schumacher says there are still opportunities for Prince Rupert.
He says there has been a shift to smaller, higher end vessels, and the port will work with them and industry partners.
Prince Rupert will see seven cruise ships come in this year, bringing approximately 3,366 passengers.
