The City of Prince Rupert has launched an emergency alert system and mobile app.
Communications Manager Veronika Stewart says the system will provide voice alerts to landlines, text message alerts to mobile users, and email alerts to subscribed residents and visitors during local emergencies.
Stewart says notifications can also be targeted to a particular residential location in the city.
The city is continuing to conduct work on a tsunami hazard assessment for Prince Rupert Stewart expects the results to be available to the public in about a year.
