The Prince Rupert RCMP are targeting dangerous drivers during Canada’s Road Safety Week.
From December 1st to 7th, Mounties will be on the lookout for dangerous drivers, which includes speeders and drivers using electronic devices.
The Prince Rupert detachment will also deploy additional members on December 3rd for National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day.
Sgt. Dave Uppal says impaired driving and distracted driving are major causes of preventable accidents.
He adds while it’s legal to use a hands-free device when driving, it’s still easy to get distracted.
Pedestrians also have a role to play in ensuring their safety during the early nights and bad weather according to Sgt. Uppal.
He also encourages anyone who sees a dangerous or aggressive driver to report it to the RCMP so they can get them off the road.
