A video reportedly showing a rough arrest in Prince Rupert has surfaced on social media.
The video was posted to Facebook and apparently shows two RCMP officers restraining a 16-year-old who’s laying on the ground. The teen is screaming and appears to be resisting police efforts to handcuff him.
At one point, a police officer who is straddling the teen’s back slams his head into the ground.
The Prince Rupert RCMP have confirmed that on Saturday, November 12th, they received a report of a fight at 12:50 a.m. in the 700 block of 2nd Ave West.
In a release, police say while they didn’t find anyone fighting, they did find an injured 16-year-old male in need of medical attention. Police allege he became combative with them and ambulance attendants.
An 18-year-old woman was also arrested and taken into custody by police.
Prince Rupert RCMP say they became aware of the video today and are looking for the person who filmed the incident as well as asking for witnesses to contact them.
