A Prince Rupert RCMP officer has been charged under the Motor Vehicle Act after an incident that saw a pedestrian seriously injured nearly a year ago.
The BC Prosecution Service announced Thursday that Corporal Jeff Easingwood is charged with driving without due care and attention.
The charge relates to an incident on the night of March 25, 2017 that saw a pedestrian hit by a police vehicle on Second Avenue West.
Corporal Easingwood was on duty at the time of the incident.
The prosecution service says the charge was approved by an experienced Crown counsel who is located in a different area of the province and who has no prior or current connection with the officer.
Easingwood is expected in court April 25, 2018.
