Prince Rupert RCMP says attempted abduction allegations unfounded

Prince Rupert RCMP says there was no merit to a reported abduction attempt last month despite comments on social media.

On January 22nd, police were notified that a 16-year-old girl was approached by a man in a vehicle. The allegation was that the man exited the vehicle and then tried to drag the teen inside.

Sgt. Dave Uppal of the Prince Rupert RCMP says a thorough investigation of the incident has revealed that while there was a minor verbal altercation, the man did not exit his vehicle and did not grab the female.

Uppal says there have been many postings about the incident on social media.

Police are urging the public not to post comments that can damage someone’s reputation without knowing the full details or circumstances of what might have happened.

RCMP say get the facts before you decide to comment or post.
