Prince Rupert RCMP suspect bad heroin in overdose death

Prince Rupert RCMP is investigating another overdose related to tainted heroin, this time with deadly consequences.

Police issued a warning on the morning of Friday, May 15th after two apparent overdoses linked to heroin mixed with Fentanyl, an extremely powerful synthetic narcotic.

Constable Matt Ericson says Mounties responded to a third drug overdose shortly after 6 p.m. Friday that claimed the life of a local man.

Given the circumstances, Ericson says police are issuing a second warning about the dangers of the Fentanyl-laced heroin.

Ericson says it’s important to call 9-1-1 if you or someone you know may be suffering from an apparent drug overdose.

Anyone with information about where the bad drugs may have come from is asked to contact the Prince Rupert RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
