The site of a former derelict pulp mill is transforming from a costly money pit to an economic generator for the City of Prince Rupert.
And Mayor Lee Brain says part of turning the page on Watson Island’s past and moving forward is giving the site a new name and brand.
Brain says the island just outside the city will now be known as the Watson Intermodal Trade and Logistics Park.
Calgary-based energy firm Pembina announced this week that it plans to build a 260 million dollar propane export terminal at the site.
Brain says the LPG terminal will be the park’s anchor tenant with room for other development.
