Chefs from around Vancouver will be showcasing their sustainable chowder creations paired with local craft beers.
The winner of the competition will be crowned 2015 Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown Champion.
This year’s attendees will also get a taste of Prince Rupert.
Prince Rupert’s Fukasaku Restaurant will be presenting a chowder called “The Harmony of Sidestripe Shrimp.”
Daisuke Fukasaku says his chowder features every part of the shrimp.
The chowder features local shrimp accompanied with daikon radish, and Haida Gwaii seaweed.
Fukasaku says his chowder will become a special item on his dinner menu after the event.
Prince Rupert’s Wheelhouse Brewing Company’s Flagship Pale Ale will be paired with the chowder.
Kent Orton of the brewing company says Prince Rupert’s water gives their beer an unique flavour.
The event takes place November 18 at the Vancouver Aquarium.
