Property sales across northern BC saw a 2.89 percent increase in 2018, according to the BC Northern Real Estate Board’s end-of-year report.
Terrace and Kitimat saw significant sales increases of 59 percent and 147 percent, respectively, with 380 sales in Terrace in 2018, and 243 in Kitimat.
Prince Rupert actually saw a slight decrease in sales compared to 2017, going from 205 to 195.
Smithers saw the exact same number of sales in each of the last two years, at 270 a piece, though 2018 proved more profitable, with 11 million dollars more in sales value.
Williams Lake and Quesnel both moved up slightly from 469 sales to 495, and 345 to 349 respectively.
In total, the north saw 5125 property sales valued at 1.5 billion dollars in 2018, compared to 4981 worth 1.3 billion in 2017.
