The province has announced a number of First Nations funding initiatives.
One program will see First Nations clean-energy projects get $2.1-million over three years.
The funding is directed to help remote Aboriginal communities that aren’t connected to the B.C. Hydro grid and are dependent on diesel generators for power.
The funding will be administered under the First Nations Clean Energy Business Fund, which helps Aboriginal communities identify clean-energy solutions and provides funding towards construction of those projects.
The province also announced a number of northern First Nations will be benefiting from $2.1-million in provincial skills training funding.
Up to 205 First Nations members in northern communities will be able to access those funds.
The money will go towards training in trades and technical jobs, and is administered through B.C.’s Aboriginal Skills Training Development Fund.
