Local bee populations are set to benefit from five new projects funded by the provincial government.
A total of 20 thousand dollars has been supplied to these projects from the newly introduced BeeBC program.
Through the BeeBC program, up to 100 thousand dollars will be invested in small-scale community research projects looking in to bee health over the next 2 years.
Of the initial five programs, one will be based in the north as Prince George based beekeeper Roselyne Lambert will look in to alternative methods to chemical treatment for mite control.
All five projects are research and education based programs which help improve the lives of BC’s bees from diet, to habitat, to disease management.
