Province gives money to colleges across the north

The province has funded a number of post-secondary institutions to allow more students to enroll in programs.

Northwest Community College will be getting $40,000 to add nine additional seats to their health practices program.

It’s offered in Prince Rupert, Smithers, and Terrace. Officials this will allow students a better opportunity to enter a career in the health sector.

Meanwhile, the College of New Caledonia will be getting $111,000 to add seven more seats to their emergency medical responder and industrial medic training program.

The province also announced $6.9-million will be given to the college as well to help build their new heavy mechanical trades building.

The federal government will also chip in $6.9-million and the college will give $1.2-million for the project at their Prince George campus.
