Province hikes minimum wage

The BC Government is hiking the minimum wage from $10.25 to $10.45 an hour starting in September.

Jobs minister Shirley Bond says the province will also be linking the wage to the inflation rate and will continue to set rates each September, providing what she calls regular, reasonable increases.

Bond says the $15.00 dollar an hour minimum wage called for by the BC Federation of Labour is not in the cards.

The province will also be hiking the minimum wage for liquor servers from $9.00 to $9.20 an hour.
