Province locks in maximum allowable rent increase for 2019

The Province has locked in the maximum allowable rent increase for 2019 at 4.5 percent.

Landlords in BC are legally allowed to increase rental rates once per year by a rate equal to the inflation rate plus 2 percent.

Increases are based off of the Consumer Price Index, which was released today.

Landlords must notify renters 3 months in advance when increasing rental rates.
