The provincial government has made financial relief available for North and Central Coast residents affected by last month’s heavy rains and flooding.
Disaster Financial Assistance provides money to property owners, tenants, and business owners who were unable to obtain insurance to cover the flood-related losses suffered from October 23-27.
A deluge of rain during the week caused flooding, a number of road washouts, and boil water advisories across northwest BC.
Areas eligible to apply for the program include:
-Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine (electoral areas C and E)
-Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (electoral area A)
-Central Coast Regional District
-Village of Queen Charlotte
-City of Terrace
-Village of Telkwa
The province says approved claims through the program will cover 80% of the amount of total eligible damage from $1,000, to $300,000.
Applications must be sent to Emergency Management BC by February 15th.
