The province has closed fishing in rivers and streams in southern Vancouver Island and on the Gulf Islands due to drought conditions.
The ban comes into effect tomorrow, but doesn’t include lake fishing.
The region is suffering from level 4 drought conditions, and according to the province, the low water levels and high water temperatures are putting fish stocks at risk.
At this time, the angling closure order is for southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands only.
But the province says fisheries biologists are monitoring 75 other key angling streams across the province and may order additional closures if necessary.
