With exactly one month until the Canada-wide legalization of cannabis, the province has provided a snapshot for how British Columbia will be effected.
While the first store will open in Kamloops, the online application will become available regardless of location, as the more than 100 paid applications continue to be processed.
The new BC Community Safety Unit will begin targeting and eliminating illegal operations.
Any individual caught selling cannabis products illegally will be subject to up to 50 thousand dollars in fines and 6 months jail time.
Those caught selling to minors could face up to 14 years in jail.
The province has also increased training for roadside stops, and will be issuing 90 day suspensions if caught driving impaired.
