Province supports development of new Emergency Room and ICU at G.R. Baker Hospital

Quesnel’s G.R. Baker Hospital has support from the province to construct plans for an upgrade.

The province says they will be working with First Nations, Northern Health, and the Cariboo-Chilcotin Regional Hospital District to get a new emergency department and intensive care unit.

They say the development of a business plan will allow them to get a better information on the scope and costs of the project.

The current emergency room is 29-years-old while the hospital was built in 1955.

G.R. Baker Hospital currently has 38 acute beds, 4 ICU rooms, one trauma room and 5 ER spaces.
