Local governments and Regional Districts in BC will now have access to additional funding to make more child care spaces available across the province.

In total, 17 million dollars is being made available between two projects thanks to a partnership between the provincial government and UBCM.

The Community Child Care Space Creation Program will see municiple and regional governments have access to up to 1 million dollars per project, with priority given to those that serve Indigenous peoples, low-income families, children with extra needs, parents under 25, and minorities.

A second program will enable local governments to apply for up to 25 thousand dollars toward projects that help identify the specific needs of their communities as part of the Community Child Care Planning Grant Program.
