New policing standards aimed at reducing discrimination and promoting equality are being hashed out by the provincial government.
According to Minister of Public Safety Mike Farnworth says the government is currently developing the new bias-free policing standards and guiding principles following a public outreach program.
The public engagement series took place from mid-March to mid-April and is being combined with recommendations from the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry to help build a safer system.
Public response to the questionaires released during the process were overwhelmingly in favour of changing current policies to be more open and inclusive.
