Transit service between Terrace and the Hazeltons will be rolled out soon.
Diane McRae is the executive director of the Gitxsan Government Commission.
She says the service is something they’ve wanted for a long time.
The province says buses will run three days a week with the fare set at five dollars. McRae believes this will work great for the community.
Service is expected to start-up later in the spring with two thirds of the costs being covered by the province and the rest split between local governments and First Nation communities.
This is the second inter-community service to be announced along the Highway 16 corridor. Smithers and Moricetown rolled out their service in January.
